# Beginning instruction manual and Help documentation for program HELP files

Once your system has met the requirements (see the REQUIREMENTS
file), you can start Muuz by simply typing

	% muuz

	from the command line.

Two screens will pop up, the muuz rectangle, and atop it,
centered on where your cursor is, the cautionary display
that talk about your responsibility for using Muuz. If
you click on the "YES" button, the cautionary display will
disappear. The Muuz program is not for everyone; if
flashing lights bother you, you may want to use the AUDIO
	only mode.

The steel grey rectangle you see first is designed to let
you explore some of the functionality of this program.

For starters, mouse-click on the up-arrow of the VOLUME button
until the display reads at least ``40''.

Next, mouse-click the STOP button to the PLAY position. You
will hear the AUDIO playing thru your speakers at 1 Hertz.

Next, mouse-click on the up-arrow of the FREQUENCY button
until you have speeded up the frequency from 1 to 7; you
will hear dual binaural beats with a frequency of 7 times
	a second.

Next, mouse-click on the up-arrow of the MODE button to move
from AUDIO to VIDEO. The sound will stop and the screen
that was steel grey will turn a light yellow that flashes
	7 times a second.

When you mouse-click again on the MODE up-arrow, you will
see the label "A+V" displayed and will hear both the sound
of the dual binaural beats and see the screen flashing --
	both a 7 times a second.

By clicking on either the up-arrow or down-arrow of the
PITCH button to hear the tone of the beats at any of four
	octaves.

By clicking on either the up-arrow or down-arrow of the
COLOR button to change the color of the flashing screen.
Five colors are possible now: yellow, orange, blue, pink,
	and white.

With these button, experiment with Muuz until you have an
idea of what it does. When you have selected colors,
pitches, volume, and a frequency that is pleasing, sit
and watch and listen for a few minutes.

To use any of the dozens of pre-programmed Muuz selections,
if you are on the first screen, click on the button
``Pre-Programmed'' in the upper left hand corner of the
display and a moment later the pre-programmed controls will
	appear.

Click on the ``Selections'' up-arrow button 3 times. The
word ``Relaxation'' will be displayed in the tiny window to
the right of the up-arrow button.

Click on the ``Programs'' up-arrow button one time until you
see the word ``Unwind'' displayed in the tiny window to the
	right of the up-arrow button.

Things are now set for the relaxation program ``Unwind'' to
be played. To start playing ``Unwind'', move the move down
and to the right to the ``Action'' up-arrow button and click
once. You will experience a relaxation light and sound
experience that will help take the edge off your day.

Click again on the ``Action'' up-arrow to ``Pause''; click
once more on the up-arrow to ``Stop'' the program. And if
you click yet once more, you will be back in ``Play.''

You can ``Stop'' the action and change the Selection. There
	are currently 7 selections:

	Creativity
	Learning
	Relaxation
	Meditation
	Sleep
	Energize
	Fun.

Each selection category has several programs. At present,
about half of these pre-programmed entries have actually
been written. Writing Muuz has turned out to be the easy
part; doing earnest research into the neuro-science is the
difficult part. Even the programs that are meant just for
fun were hard to program simply because what the authors
think is fun and what you, the user, think is fun may be
	very different.
