This is the game of president. You can play it from the slightly more
powerful line-interface ``prez'', or you can use the colourized
full-screen interface ``aprez''. See the respective documents for
instructions on each. Most of you, being the graphical types, will
use the ``xprez'' GUI.

Below some occasionally-controversial rules are outlined as followed in
this implementation. If you require a more complete introduction to the
rules of President, skip to the next section of the document and continue
reading, or read the very good description of the game available at
http://www.netlink.co.uk/users/pagat/climbing/asshole.html.

The Ass always goes first. Play proceeds upwards to the President.

The President will give the Ass their two lowest cards. They do not have
a choice to choose to give away higher cases because they want to keep a
pair. This is intentional -- giving away low cards is meant to be a
handicap at times.

52 cards + 2 Jokers. Cards are dealt from the President downwards to the
Ass, resulting in one extra card each for the President and Vice-
President.

1 two beats doubles
2 twos beat triples and quads
1 joker beats doubles and triples
2 jokers beat quads
1 joker does not beat two twos (*)
2 jokers beat 3 twos

(*) I may change this rule w/o notice

Aces are not wild.

Except for the wildcards, sets must have the same number of cards in them
as the set that they are laying on (ie. no "doubles beat singles" rule).

This line denotes the beginning of the next section of the document.

The game of President, or Ass, is a popular 4 player cardgame. The basic
order of play is that the first person will lay a set of cards, each the
same (suits don't count), and each of the remaining players will attempt
to lay a higher set. The first player to lose all of their cards wins
that round.

Use a 54-card deck. Suits are irrelevant. Twos and Jokers are wild.
Aces are high. One two beats doubles; one joker beats triples.

After each game, players will be ordered from first to lay all their
cards to last to lay all their cards. The first (winner) will become the
President, next Vice-President, next Vice-Ass, last Ass. The President
will choose two of their cards to give to the Ass, and the Ass will give
their two highest cards to the President. The Vice-President and Vice-Ass
will exchange one card in the same way.

Play will begin with the Ass and proceed upwards to the President, each
trying to lay a higher set on the previous one. After each of the players
has had a chance (which they may pass on) to lay on the previous set, the
table will be cleared and a new round will begin. The last person to lay
a set in the previous round gets to start the new round.

The first person in the first round in the first game is the person who
has the three of clubs. They must lay the card.
