PostNuke: The Rogue Release (0.714)
==================================

   PostNuke is an open source, open development content management system
(CMS). PostNuke started as a fork from PHPNuke (http://www.phpnuke.org) and
provides many enhancements and improvements over the PHP-Nuke system. PostNuke
is still undergoing development but a large number of core functions are now
stabilising and a complete API for third-party developers is now in place.

   If you would like to help develop this software, please visit our homepage
at http://www.postnuke.com, or contact J. Cox at john.cox@postnuke.com.

Is This Release Stable?
=======================

   Although this is officially an alpha release the product itself is
considered to be stable and is fully supported by the development team. Bug
reports and feature requests can be submitted through our SourceForge page at
http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/post-nuke

Security Matters
================

   This version of PostNuke will not work with an unqualified hostname (most
commonly, localhost). This is due to a tighter security model than in previous
versions of PostNuke. To fix this problem either refer to the site through
localhost's IP address (normally 127.0.0.1) or create a dummy qualified
hostname for your local machine. Sites that already have official hostnames
(this applies to every publicly accessible host on the internet) will not
need to make any alterations to their systems.

   In order for the PostNuke install to work correctly the webserver process
needs write access to two files, config.php and config-old.php These files
store configuration information entered during the install procedure. After
installation is complete these files can be set back to read-only access.

   The file install.php and the entire directory install should be removed
after installation is complete. This stops malicious users from being able to

   This version of PostNuke does not require the modules directory to be
world-writable. In fact, after installation *none* of the files need to be
world-writable and it is recommended that no files or directories are left
writable by the webserver process after the install procedure has been
completed.
