The number of columns your monitor can display refers to the number of
characters your screen can display on one line. Use the following guide to
choose a column length:

                   2----|----3----|----4----|----5----|----6----|----7----|----8----|----9----|----A----|----B----|----C----|----D

Look at the line starting with 2. Follow it to the right until you get to the
end of your screen. If the last character is a number, then you should enter
that number followed by a 0 as your column length. For example, if the number
is 8, your column length would be 80. If the last character is a letter, then
your column length can be computed as follows:

A = 100  B = 110  C = 120  D = 130

For example, if the last character is D, then your column length is 130. If
the last character is a - or | then look to the left until you find a digit
or letter. Your column length will be that number or letter, (as expanded
above), followed by the number of - and | marks following it. For example,
if the last characters are 8--- then your column length would be 83, (8
followed by 3 - marks). If the last characters are A---| then your column
length would be 105, (A expands to 100 as shown above plus 5 - or | marks).
